Marching forward into the second week of TGGL 2 league matches brings us to Davit Arakelyan fighting out of Ararat up against Tackle’s Tyler Wittreich. Both fighters without league points at the moment, however Tyler was the lightweight division champion of last season’s league play.
It would be Davit who would earn the first takedown, by way of a sort of throw or trip, however it would be Tyler to find himself on top. Wittreich would then stabilize himself and go on the offensive, looking for a toehold, but Arakelyan defends well and the two find themselves back on their feet.
After another brief scramble the two would work back to the ground, this time with Davit on top, and Tyler in bottom side control.
Wittreich would manage to go on the attack from bottom however, securing a headscissor, and beginning to isolate the arm of Arakelyan.
Wittreich would remain on top for the remainder of the match, attacking various submissions, including a near naked choke, several variations on armbars and kimuras, and a smother tap, however Arakelyan would defend very well, fighting his was out until the end of the match. All three judges would score the match in Wittreich’s favor.
So, after witnessing the match with your own eyes, do you agree with the judge’s decision? Was there something we missed? Let us know about it down below in the comments! And, as always, thank you for grappling!
