Attempting To Armbar Rubber: Peterson Vs Brunskole In The TGGL Lightweight Division

Today we are taking a look at Epifanio Peterson vs Carter Bunskole in the TGGL’s lightweight division. Epifanio, fighting out of Academy 440 walks into this match with 12 league points from a previous submission win, whereas Carter is without points as this is his first TGGL match.

The action kicks off with Peterson snapping Brunskole down to the mat, and landing him in the front headlock position.

From there, Epi would pull Carter into a closed guard, and begin to isolate one of Carter’s shoulders, perhaps looking for an armbar…

Epifanio would do well to isolate the shoulder and elbow of Carter, but try as he may, Carter would not tap, wriggling his way out of the armbar, and using it to temporarily pass, but not for long as Peterson would regain his closed guard almost immediately.

As a matter of fact, Carter would find himself in a whole series of armbars throughout the match, but try as he could, Epifanio Peterson could not pull the tap out of Carter Brunskole.

Even the judges appeared concerned at the hypermobility of Brunskole’s elbows, but the match was allowed to continue, as he showed no lasting discomfort at any point.

Eventually, Epi would come to realize that Carter would not be submitted by way of armbar, and he switches to attacking a triangle off of the same closed guard entry, but it also would not be successful in getting the tap out of Brunskole. The match would go to decision where Epi would be awarded the 4 points.

What did you think of that matchup!? Are Carter’s shoulders legitimately made of rubber, or did Epi just not have the right angle? Let me know your thoughts down below in the comments! And, as always, thank you for grappling!
