Tournament structure
The championship currently consists of 104 athletes in the weight divisions:
- Men: five 16-person divisions = 80 competitors
- Women: three 8-person divisions = 24 competitors
- Men’s Absolute: also scheduled, with a 16-person open-weight bracket
- Superfight: Kaynan Duarte vs. Yuri Simões
The official event page currently lists the Absolute alongside the men’s divisions but does not list a women’s Absolute for 2026. That’s worth noting because there was a women’s Absolute at ADCC 2024.
Men’s weight classes
-65.9 kg, -76.9 kg, -87.9 kg, -98.9 kg, +99 kg and Absolute
Women’s weight classes
-55 kg, -65 kg and +65 kg.
Confirmed 2026 ADCC roster

Notably, reigning 77 kg champion Mica Galvão is not on the current roster. Earlier promotional material had him accepted/invited, but he is absent from ADCC’s current official field.
Men’s -88 kg

Giancarlo Bodoni, the 2022 and 2024 champion at 88 kg, will not defend his title.
Men’s -99 kg
This one is especially interesting.
| Athlete | Country | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Kaynan Duarte | Brazil | 2024 Champion |
| Declan Moody | Great Britain | Europe Trials 1 |
| Achilles Rocha | USA | USA Trials 1 |
| Nicholas Maglicic | Australia | Asia Trials 1 |

And yes: Kaynan is officially listed both in the -99 kg tournament AND in the superfight.
Men’s +99 kg
| Athlete | Country | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Felipe Pena | Brazil | 2024 Champion |
| Mark Macqueen | Scotland | Europe Trials 1 |
| Brandon Reed | USA | USA Trials 1 |
| Tito John Carle | Australia | Asia Trials 1 |
| Haisam Rida | Ghana | Europe Trials 2 |
| Roosevelt Sousa | Brazil | Brazil Trials 1 |

| Nick Hartman | USA | USA Trials 2 |
| Belal Etiabari | New Zealand | Asia Trials 2 |
| Daniel Manasoiu | USA | Invite |
| Josh Saunders | Australia | Invite |
| Pouya Rahmani | Iran | Invite |
| Victor Hugo | Brazil | Invite |
| Ruslan Abdulaev | Russia | Invite |
| Francis Pana | Canada | Invite |
| Heikki Jussila | Finland | Invite |
Women’s -55 kg
| Athlete | Country | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Janette Gloger | Germany | Europe Trials |
| Mayssa Bastos | Brazil | Brazil Trials |
| Sheliah Lindsey | USA | USA Trials |
| Kanae Ikeda | Japan | Asia Trials |
| Jasmine Rocha | USA | Invite |
| Anna Rodrigues | Brazil | Invite |
| Ana Mayordomo | Spain | Invite |
| Valerie Hamilton | USA | Invite |
The huge story is the absence of 2024 -55 kg and Absolute champion Adele Fornarino. She was originally expected back but was subsequently removed from the ADCC roster. The change followed her booking into the UFC BJJ flyweight tournament; Valerie Hamilton is now in the ADCC field.
Women’s -65 kg
| Athlete | Country | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Ana Carolina Vieira | Brazil | 2024 Champion |
| Injana Goodman | Great Britain | Europe Trials |
| Livia Barasine | Brazil | Brazil Trials |
| Sarah Galvao | USA | USA Trials |
| Nadia Frankland | Australia | Asia Trials |

Women’s +65 kg
| Athlete | Country | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Rafaela Guedes | Brazil | 2024 Champion |
| Anabel Lopez | Spain | Europe Trials |
| Yara Soares | Brazil | Brazil Trials |
| Paige Ivette Borras | USA | USA Trials |
| Matilda Reid | Australia | Asia Trials |
| Gabi Garcia | Brazil | Invite |
| Helena Crevar | USA | Invite |
| Elizabeth Mitrovic | USA | Invite |
This might be the women’s division with the biggest mainstream storyline: defending champion Rafaela Guedes, the return of Gabi Garcia, and Helena Crevar all occupying the same eight-person bracket.
Confirmed superfight
Kaynan Duarte vs. Yuri Simões
This is now official, not speculation.
Kaynan Duarte
- Brazil
- 2024 ADCC Absolute champion
- Also competing at -99 kg in 2026
Yuri Simões
- Brazil
- Faced Gordon Ryan in the 2024 ADCC superfight
- Officially designated by ADCC as the 2024 Super Fight runner-up for this matchup
ADCC’s August 18 competitor update explicitly lists:
Kaynan Duarte vs. Yuri Simões.
The matchup became necessary because the traditional path would have placed 2024 Absolute champion Kaynan against reigning superfight champion Gordon Ryan, but Ryan retired from sport jiu-jitsu in 2026.
Only four 2024 weight champions are returning
This is one of the biggest overarching stories of ADCC 2026.
The eight 2024 divisional champions were:
| 2024 division | Champion | 2026 status |
|---|---|---|
| -66 | Diogo Reis | ❌ Not in current roster |
| -77 | Mica Galvão | ❌ Not in current roster |
| -88 | Giancarlo Bodoni | ❌ Not in current roster |
| -99 | Kaynan Duarte | ✅ Competing |
| +99 | Felipe Pena | ✅ Competing |
| Women -55 | Adele Fornarino | ❌ Not competing |
| Women -65 | Ana Carolina Vieira | ✅ Competing |
| Women +65 | Rafaela Guedes | ✅ Competing |
So four of eight reigning weight-class champions are currently defending their titles.
And Kaynan is doing considerably more than defending: he is currently scheduled to compete in -99 kg plus the superfight.

Takedown into guard/half guard — 2
Clean takedown past guard — 4

Guard pulling or voluntarily going from standing to a grounded position and remaining there for three seconds can produce a -1 penalty during the scoring portion. Passivity and fleeing can also result in negatives.
Things that are not confirmed yet
The actual first-round brackets are not out yet. Flo currently has the bracket reveal scheduled for September 11.
The 16-person Absolute field has not been announced. Flo is discussing likely entrants, but those are contenders/predictions, not a confirmed bracket.
There is currently no women’s Absolute listed on the official 2026 event page. Until ADCC announces otherwise, I would not advertise one.
Given that ADCC altered the competitor list as recently as August 18, I’d treat even the full roster above as subject to late injury/withdrawal replacements. ADCC itself says its competitor list is updated regularly.
The headline picture right now
The core story of ADCC 2026 is shaping up as: ADCC leaves the U.S. for Kraków, doubles down on larger purses, loses half of its reigning divisional champions, brings in several unusual/high-profile invitees like Mateusz Gamrot and Gabi Garcia, features a completely stacked new-generation field, and officially books Kaynan Duarte vs. Yuri Simões while Kaynan also attempts to defend his -99 kg crown.
