You Can’t Liver Kick The Undead: Bas Rutten’s Real Life Haunting

Mixed Martial Arts legend Bas Rutten, known for his unparalleled toughness in the ring, has revealed an opponent that sent a shiver down his spine, the supernatural.

Far more terrifying than any submission attempt, Rutten shared a chilling account of paranormal activity that occurred in his own home, prompting a significant shift in his life and bringing him back to his Catholic faith.

The Curtain Incident And A Physical Attack

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion described multiple unsettling events in a house where he lived. The most dramatic involved what he felt was a physical assault by a spirit.

“I got back to the [Catholic] faith. A whole bunch of stuff happened to me. I mean physically attacked by a spirit. It was so freaking scary what happened to me.”

In another instance, Rutten believed he was chasing an intruder in his house who then ran straight through a curtain hanging in a doorway.

A Visit From Two Boys

Rutten’s family moved to a new house, but the eerie phenomena continued. On the first night, Rutten’s daughter woke up and shared a story that confirmed his fears. When asked how her first night was, she replied, “Oh, it was great but I had a visit from two boys.” Rutten asked if she meant spirits, and she confirmed, adding, “No they were actually nice.” She mentioned one boy kept playing on the bed but became quiet when she told him she wanted to sleep.

A Tragic History: Rutten checked the history of the house and found a heartbreaking detail, in 2001, two boys, 17 years of age, died in an incident that involved them going through a wall on the side of the home. Rutten even noted seeing where the wall had been repaired outside.

Returning To Faith

The combination of a physical attack, the bizarre curtain event, and his children witnessing spirits was a breaking point. Rutten concluded, “I go okay this is not the world. I think something more is coming.”

This terrifying, real-life encounter with the unexplained was a major turning point, inspiring the tough-as-nails fighter to return to the religion of his upbringing.

This Halloween, while many seek out fabricated thrills in commercial haunted houses, Bas Rutten’s true ghost story stands as a chilling reminder that sometimes the scariest things are those you can’t see, even if you are one of the world’s most feared strikers. Stay safe out there this Halloween! And, as always, thank you for grappling!
