Taking a look today at Tyler Wittreich going head to head with John Soltis in the TGGL’s lightweight division. Soltis, fighting out of Cleveland Institute of BJJ enters the contest with 24 points from his previous submission victories, whereas Tyler has only 8 points from previous decision victories.
The match would get underway with Tyler bounding for John’s head, seemingly looking to maybe get a standing choke right of the bat, but he would not successfully control Soltis’ head, and would instead settle for a snapdown of sorts.

Tyler would make his way into side control easily, almost too easily as Soltis sends an immediate buggy choke attempt, by Tyler handles it well, and the two proceed to north south where each would attempt a head and arm choke in due turn.
At the end of their north-south scramble, Tyler would find himself in bottom position, but still comfortable and not seemingly in much danger at the moment.

Soon Tyler would find himself back on top, and looking for what appears to be a mounted triangle/s-guard sort of attacking position, but Soltis would defend well, and in the scramble the two would find themselves back on their feet.
Throughout the match, Tyler would send a total of two flying armbar attempts, fully sending both, but landing neither. They certainly looked rad though!

With time running short, Wittreich would again send up a triangle attempt, though mostly for control it would seem, as this one was not snug on the neck of Soltis.
With 30 seconds remaining, Tyler would send one last triangle, a reverse triangle, and proceed to hold it for the remaining seconds. All three judges would score the match in his favor. Wittreich walks away 4 points richer.

Yet another close match out of the TGGL! A lot of great action, but unfortunately no subs this time! Bummer! Let me know what you thought about the match down below in the comments! And, as always, thank you for grappling!
