We are taking a look today at a matchup in the TGGL’s lightweight division. Academy 440’s Epifanio Peterson goes up against Mason Stanley of Levitate Jiujitsu. Epi comes into the match with 12 previous league points from his submission against Dan Hughes, and Mason has 4 from a decision victory.
Mason would kick things off for us, displaying his wrestling ability, he hits a smooth looking trip, taking Epi down, and Epi proceeds to build his frames to play guard immediately

Epi would deploy a series of guard work here, combatting Mason’s strong top-side pressure, keeping him pretty well pinned in his guard.
We would see Epi attempt a couple guillotines from butterfly guard, but Mason would counter by doing a really good job of getting to the side of Epifanio, negating the chokes.

Peterson would also notably attempt a kimura, however Stanley maintains his composure and ends up getting a back-take out of the endeavor.
With Mason finally on the back of Peterson, time remaining the the match was short. He attempts to secure the rear-naked choke, but it would prove to not be in enough time, as the clock rang out, and the match was over. The judges would all rule in favor of Stanley, giving Mason the points and the victory.

Yet another match down to referee decision! Do you agree with their choices? Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below! And, as always, thank you for grappling!
