More Middleweight Matchups Out Of The TGGL: Abdul Anous Vs Chance Fritz

Taking a look today at Abdul Anous out of Tackle Jiujitsu going up against Chance Fritz out of Levitate BJJ. Both competitors are currently without league points as of this match.

Fritz would strike first with a takedown off of a Russian-tie, landing on top side control, but almost immediately Abdul counters by head-scissoring Chance trapping his head and arm, but not for long as Chance defends it well.

Fritz not yet out of danger, as Anous would pummel his legs, looking to capture a head and/or arm, looking to catch a triangle or armbar.

Fritz would once again defend well, and Anous would opt to turtle out of aside control, but Fritz would remain heavy, keeping pressure on Abdul.

Chance goes for a back-take off of turtle, to which Abdul responds to by just standing up, a classic but effective move, as Fritz proceeds to fall off and back to the mat.

Once, back down on the mat, Chance would look to wrestle-up, getting in and keeping hold of one of Abdul’s legs, but Anous chooses to go with the flow, sitting back to a k-guard sort of deal.

Fritz would eventually make his way past Anous’ guard, and into side control by way of Abdul looking to hang on to a guillotine, which he eventually lets go of.

After repeating the cycle of turtle, to back-take, to just standing up again, the two men find themselves yet again on their feet, looking to reengage from standing.

The match would go the full length of the allotted 6 minute time limit where we would see Chance Fritz be awarded a decision victory, the judges cited him as being the more active of the two, while acknowledging that Abdul did have several submission attempts, but nothing particularly close to finish.

What an extremely close match! Looking back, I think the decision could have easily went the other way. What do you think? Let me know about it down in the comments! And, as always, thank you for grappling!
