Today’s tale of the tape features two Tacklers, Hunter Bonham vs Christian Saunders. Neither of these two men have league points as of present, and as they are (I think) the only two heavyweights involved in the TGGL this go-through, they might not end up getting many points at all.
It is Christian Saunders who would pull guard first after the two heavyweight engage in a brief feeling-out of one another while still standing. Hunter would find himself in top half, but would begin working to change that almost immediately.

Hunter would start stapling Christian to the mat so as to ease his progress into side control. Christian attempting to keep Hunter’s leg trapped, as opposed to working a sort of knee shield base half guard.
One in side control, we would see Bonham begin to work a head and arm choke on Saunders, but Saunders manages to hang in there, despite the choke looking pretty deep.

Not yet done with the attack, Hunter turns his attention to back control, chair-sitting Christian into back control, albeit briefly as Christian battles out and in light of the short time remaining, begins to mount an assault of his own.
We would see Saunders attempt to rip a kneebar on Bonham, however I don’t believe he had the correct angle, as Bonham looked unbothered and the match timer sounded. Hunter Bonham would receive a victory by referee decision, siting his overall match dominance and more submission attempts as reason.

Possibly the only heavyweight matchup for this season of the TGGL, but it looks like the big boys are learning how to use submissions! A scary prospect! Let me know what you thought about the match in the comments down below! And, as always, thank you for grappling!
