Today, out of Tackle’s TGGL we have Marty Rehor facing off against Epifanio Peterson of Academy 440. Marty enters the match without any points in the league, whereas Epifanio is sitting pretty with 12 points from his previous submission victory.
After a very brief scramble, Epifanio pulls guard and immediately tries to elevate Marty in hopes of getting in on a leg. However Marty defends well, standing up and getting some distance between Epi and his feet, a wise choice.

Once back standing the two would engage in a brief scrap before returning to the mat in similar function as before, Epi looking to play for legs, and Marty preferring to wrestle and pass, so as to play a positional game.
Rehor would attempt several flashy cartwheel passes, making it past Peterson’s guard not once, but twice, however to little avail, as Peterson would regain his guard shortly thereafter.

When Peterson wasn’t trying to elevate and get in a leg, he was playing a closed guard, seemingly trying to break down Rehor’s posture to maybe setup a triangle, or perhaps an armbar.
Though his guard game was a display of skill, it would not prove enough for Peterson this day, as the match would go the full length without notable submission attempts from either man. The match would go to decision, where the judges would side with Rehor, citing his passing as the reason for victory. Marty Rehor gets the four points and the victory.

Sometimes, try though you may, the subs just won’t come! Thankfully, Marty got to practice his passing ability during this match! Let me know what you thought about this matchup down below! And, as always, thank you for grappling!
