Entering the third week of the TGGL has been action packed! As Zachary Beeman distinguishes himself as a firm front runner in the division, he is granted some fresh competition by way of the addition of Jeremiah Butler to this round of matches. Let’s take a look at the action in this recap.

In the first match of the evening, we would see Jeremiah Butler, out of 10th Planet Masury go up against Jack Baeppler of Tackle Jiujitsu. Jeremiah is without points, as he is a novel competitor, whereas Jack has 20 league points already accrued.
Both men choose to start things off with a mutual collar tie, giving the impression that the match will be a wrestling heavy match up.

In a bit of razzle dazzle, Butler dives on a flying armbar, and goes belly-down, eliciting the tap, the points, and the victory in under 30 seconds of the match.

The next match placed Jeremiah Butler up against the TGGL middleweight frontrunner, Zachary Beeman. Butler now with 12 TGGL league points, and Butler with an untouched 48.

Immediatley after the slap-bump, we see Beeman sort of flop to a guard pull, much to Butler’s amusement. Beeman engaging Butler in an open guard, perhaps looking to catch and arm or leg.
We would see a much more cautious Jeremiah Butler this round, as opposed to his previous match with Baeppler, choosing to keep some distance between Beeman and his feet.

Though the distance would seemingly not be enough, as Beeman latches on to Butler’s leg, and proceeds to go belly-down on it, garnering the tap from Butler and the subsequent league points.

Next match of the evening would exhibit Full Circle’s Zachary Beeman vs Gary Chaney of Cleveland Institute Of BJJ. Beeman now with 60 league points, and Gary with 4 total league points.

In keeping with his other matches, Beeman opts to sit for guard, once again playing a seated open guard with Chaney, who, like Butler, seems to be keeping Beeman’s legs at bay.
Seconds later, Beeman’s on a leg again, and begins to roll belly-down on a straight ankle. We see Chaney give the tap moments later.

For the final match of the evening, we would see the rematch between Gary Chaney of Cleveland Institute of BJJ, and Tackle’s Jack Baeppler. Gary with 4 TGGL league points, and Jack sporting 20.
The match would be dominated by a bunch of wrestling on wrestling, both men favoring a stand up and top heavy sort of game for much of the match.

Both men would see early takedowns, but it would be Baeppler that did a little bit more with his, having a couple near back takes, forcing Chaney to turtle up in response.
Just when it seemed the match would go to another decision win, we see Jack transition from closed guard to an armbar, finishing it for the points and the victory.

I, for one, love it when every match has a submission. How about you? What was your match of the evening? Let us know about it down in the comments! And, as always, thank you for grappling.
